Ok, I've updated my code to use datatables with AJAX and a JSON data source. I've searched the forum and found the fnReloadAjax plugin, which I've added to my code.

3. Continuing from #2 above, request a tab load using $('#tabs').tabs('load', 8). Now the datatable once again takes up the entire width of the window.

If I delete $( "#tabs" ).tabs(); then it works but my tabs are not displayed anymore.
