data tables should not generate cookies that are too large

they're extremely destructive... instead the cookie size should be checked and a warning posted if the cookie is getting too large.

Agreed - I don't really like the cookie handling at the moment. One way to stop this is to edit the code and don't save stuff that you don't need. A better way needs to be found, but then DataTables does need to store quite a lot of information to restore state, so it's a rock and a hard place situation...
