State save with hashtags in url

I'm looking for a way to store the state of my datatable in the url as a hashtag. As I understand the hash can be changed without reloading the page.

I'd like to store:
1. page #
2. rows per page
3. search term
4. (possibly) the values from multi-filter (http://datatables.net/examples/api/multi_filter.html)

Is there an inbuilt or plugin that will do this?
if not, can you point me at some documentation for the functions needed and how to access the data listed above?
