Sorting not deterministic when using -pre after sorting by another column

If I've assigned a -pre function to a sort, it seems that the sort can be affected by previous column sorts, and results in a somewhat random sort order when the column header is clicked on. I have orderMulti disabled, so I have no idea why the sort orders should affect the sort order at all. Any way that I can "purge" the prior sorts such that the column sort is respected?
