How to detect if focus is in datatables search?

Hi,

i am new to datatables (lovely) and wondering how to check via javascript if the focus is in the datatables-search field.
In addition i would love to enable arrow up / down to let me jump from the search (so focus is in our search at start) to other elements of my page ...if possible. Any pointer or hint is welcome.

If it helps i could add a code-example later on to explain the current setup.
