IE8 - sFileName removing file extention (pdf, excel, csv) - TableTools

Hi,

I noticed in IE8 the file extension for TableTools is getting removed. Simple way to test is go to the examples http://datatables.net/release-datatables/extras/TableTools/index.html and try to download a pdf, csv, or excel file.

I also tried to set the file name using sFileName as shown here but I have the same results. http://datatables.net/forums/discussion/2049/tabletools-excel-export-extension-name/p1

Seems sFileName's method doing the naming doesn't like the period. If I replace with a dash i get TableTools-xls. Put the period back in like "sFileName": "TableTools.xls" then the save shows "TableTools".

There is no code in TableTools that will specifically do that I don't think (I don't remember writing it!). I think that's probably just the behaviour of how the Flash FileReference works. Unfortunately it is quite limited (but still miles ahead of what is offered by HTML).

Any chance you can do anything about this? Or, is there some setting in Flash we can tell users to adjust?

Nothing I can do, and nothing that is available int he Flash settings I'm afraid. This is simply the way the Flash local file save works :-(
