I enabled scrolling and disabled pagination (as is done here: http://www.datatables.net/examples/basic_init/scroll_y.html) and was wondering if there was a way to change the default number of rows to be shown i.e. if I want an n number of rows to be displayed in the table and for any additional rows, the user has to scroll down

Yes - change the sScrollY option to show more or less rows as required :-). There isn't a built in option to have the viewport show `n` rows when scrolling is enabled.
