Show Search Bar if Page Count exceeds 1 Page

Hello, is it possible to conditionally show the search bar only if the page count exceeds one page?

If this question has been asked before or is available in the examples section, I apologise but have so far been unable to find any anwers / work this one out...

This blog post describes how a plugin that controls the pagination display can be created to show / hide the control if there is 1 page or more: http://datatables.net/blog/Creating_feature_plug-ins . You could adapt that to show / hide the filtering control, rather than the pagination.
