Questions about $.fn.dataTableExt.afnFiltering

How can I get the index to $.fn.dataTableExt.afnFiltering of a function that was pushed into $.fn.dataTableExt.afnFiltering from within the function that was pushed?

Is $.fn.dataTableExt.afnFiltering empty by default or does it contain methods that the DataTables plugin creates itself?
