fnFilter for specific column "Perform smart filtering or not" strange behaviour

I build a simple demo http://live.datatables.net/ajegut/2/edit
I got two buttons which do filter on the first column (N# 0), for some reason in order to make the filter to work i need to turn off the default "smart filtering" otherwise when clicking the button with the "filter column 0 with Gecko o" it does not filter (does not hide the other row)
It will work only if i set the smart filtering to false
My question is, why the smart filtering works that way? I mean I'm only filtering a specific column and the value is present in only one row , so why the smart filtering does not hide the irrelevant rows?
