How can I use the TableTools plugin without changing the look of my existing HTML tables?

I have a number of existing tables that I need to be able to export to Excel, and I think the easiest way to do that is with the TableTools plugin. However, I don't want to modify the on-screen look/feel of my tables. Also, these tables currently are NOT wrapped with the DataTables plugin.

Is there a way to do this? Can I use the DataTables plugin only for the TableTools plugin without DataTables affecting my tables at all? (ie. can I turn off all of the DataTables functionality?)
