Better put, why does this not work?

var table = $('#example').DataTable();

        table.column( 12 )
            .search(val === 0 ? val:false)
            .draw();

For those interested, I solved this by using regex.

var below95 = '^([0-9][0-4].[0-9])$'

var table = $('#example').DataTable();

table.columns(6,7,8,9)
.search( below95 , true, false )
.draw();
