how to change what input fields in the table header are dieplayed

hi there,
I bought a tatatable licence some times ago (1.9).
Now I would like to change the input fields that are displayed in the table header. Instead of the "how many records" selection I would like to have an "add record" button.
How is that done. Where do I find a sample.
