Determine Datetable length

Hi

Is it possible to determine the length of a datatable in order to reassign the scrollbar of an outside element?
the problem is that when i change the items from d.h. 10 to 50 the datatable changes but the changed size is not available
until i change the size again.
unfortunatly i can't use the datatable scrolling feature and i want to show the corrent length of the scrollbar.

maybe somebody has a hint oder so.
