row grouping - expand & contract rows

I remember on a (much) older version of datatables, a grouping plugin which allowed the expansion/contraction toggling of grouped rows so that content was visible/hidden

Using the example on https://datatables.net/examples/advanced_init/row_grouping.html I can get grouping to work ok, is the toggleable function something that is do-able, and are there any pointers you could give me ?

There was a third party plug-in for this, but I don't think it has been maintained recently for 1.10.

It is something I hope to create in future for DataTables (an extension that does this), but currently there isn't an option for this without writing the code to do it. If you were to do that, a custom filtering plug-in would probably be the way forward.

I tried the old plugin, which doesn't seem to work beyond version 1.9.4.

A new Plug-in is a bit beyond my scope at the moment
