I have read examples specifically on columns and headers being able to float, after the user scrolls past a certain length vertically.
But my question is pertaining towards TableTools and Editor, which seems to be using some Flash-based buttons.
Is there any API or method to change these TableTools/Editor buttons to be floating once the user scrolls vertically?

Currently no. The fact that TableTools (not Editor) uses Flash for some buttons doesn't have any baring on that to be honest, it just isn't a feature that is implemented in TableTools at this time.

Would there be a feature in the DataTables roadmap that includes floating Flash buttons?
Not currently. I would imagine it probably isn't that hard to do, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are other jQuery plug-isn that would add this ability to any element on a page, but it isn't something I'm currently planning to add.
