TableTools Multiline Cell in PDF Export

I know this was asked a couple of years ago in some posts, but I am looking to see if it might now be available. I have a table where a cell has multiple lines (using <br> tags). I have used the "fnCellRender" option to clean the cell of any html and replace the <br> tags with line breaks.

The CSV export works fine as long as the data falls within the quotes. Excel export is broken because it doesn't use quotes around columns (which is not a problem because I will not use the excel export button.)

For PDFs, the additional lines are being thrown into their own table rows. Is there a way that I can keep them in the same row and same column?

I am ok with editing the tabletools source files with custom code to make this happen, but could use some direction on where exactly I need to modify.
