How can I position an element (bInfo) outside of the DataTable container?

Above is a very simple version of what I'd like to do. I am creating a custom filter in a separate area which will be used for the dataTables portion. However the design states that the Table Information (Showing X of Y entries) must be in that container. Is there a way to position that outside of the main dataTables container?
