Buttons column visibility default

this is probably an easy question, but can you default set columns to not visible, and only let them see based on the buttons column visibility click? rather than all of them being visible and having the user pair down the list?

See this example for how to control groups of columns with a single button. You can use columns.visible to set their default state.
