Datatable slow issue

After adding a table of 450 rows and which has 10 columns . Datatable is very slow in IE8. however it works much better in google chrome or other browser. I am rendering some images and anchor tag. Please advice how to optimize the performance. I have to render it using a XSLT as i am using it in SharePoint and i dont have any options to use SP Services.
