• Exclude certain columns from having a filter.
• Mix and match text and pull down menus for column filtering similar to the following url that is an example for the legacy datatables

I have been searching on this site and external for an example or some code I can implement and all I have found are examples for the legacy version that I have been unable to figure out how to adapt for this version.

Have a look at the excellent YADCF plug-in. Its not officially part of DataTables, but is is a very useful library!
