Let's say I have a 6 column table, but only the first column displayed. I would like for the responsive modal to be active on that column so the user could see the other hidden column information. Is that possible? I have been playing with a bunch of things, but so far no success.

Sounds perfectly possible and should in fact work out of the box (with the modal option enabled of course). If ti isn't working for you, perhaps you can link to the page you are working on so I can take a look and see what the issue might be.
