select multiple cleared on focus

Can you point me to a working example of a multi-valued "select" control? I've tried with the built in "select" field type and the "select2" plugin. Edits persist, as does creation. The problem is that when the inline editor is invoked on a cell that already has a value, the previous value is cleared in the select element. The user has to select everything again from scratch. If there was a working example where this doesn't happen, I could perhaps figure out what I'm not doing correctly. It's important for the select field that the "value" and "label" fields are distinct.

Non of the examples on the Editor site currently use the select2 plug-in at this time.

Can you link me to your own page so I can take a look and see what might be going wrong please?
