How to enable "Number of records to be show" dropdown

I have configured Server Side Pagination with EDIT, DELETE, NEW buttons....everything is working fine. But I can't figure out the line of code to be added so that the page can display the dropdown with number of records to be display.
"lengthMenu": [[10, 25, 50, -1], [10, 25, 50, "All"]] this does not works for me...

This is covered by the "Q. How can I show the page length select when using Buttons?" FAQ. Have you tried the solution there? (Apologies - it looks like there is a markdown formatter error in the answer which I'll correct, but hopefully the idea should still be clear).
