1) Why did you choose to have the .dt namespace as a suffix? I guess it is little counterintuitive.
2) Some of the examples do not include .dt namespace

Its shorter and easier to type than datatables.

2) Some of the examples do not include .dt namespace

No - if you use the DataTables API methods such as on() the name space is automatically added for you since you would only use the DataTables API to listen for DataTables events. The documentation for those methods mentions this.
