I've replied to your question by e-mail as well, but I'm just posting it here so anyone else who finds this post can also see my reply.
The Editor .NET libraries I'm afraid do not yet support .NET Core. They make use of a database abstraction feature that exists in .NET Framework, but hasn't been ported over to .NET Core yet. My understanding is that Microsoft are planning to add that in with .NET Core 2.1 - at which point I'll be porting the libraries over.
Until then, if you fancy making use of your own server-side code rather than the pre-built libraries, the data communication protocol that Editor uses is available here:
