How to do sorting with text (A:1)?

I have a column with values like:

A:3
A:1
A:2
A:10

The default sort gives me:

A:1
A:10
A:2
A:3

How can I get this sort?

A:1
A:2
A:3
A:10

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
