That particular issue is a "known" one and is as a result of the changes to how DataTables 1.8 handles the colspan / rowspan in table headers. This is noted in the upgrade notes for 1.8: http://datatables.net/upgrade/1.8 . If you update to the current development version of FixedColumns the issue should be resolved. I hope to get a new version of FixedColumns out with the fix soon.
