Opps I hit the send button to soon. For some strange reason the editor pop up comes in on the same screen on the bottom of the screen. any pointers what might be the issue here? I was hopping to see a modal pop up.

Sounds like a CSS related issue or something in your environment. Without a link to your page or a test case it would be difficult to troubleshoot.
