sWidth can't works

if i set [code]"sWidth":"20px"[/code] or [code]"sWidth":"2em"[/code],that can't works

but if i set [code]"sWidth":"1%"[/code], that works

aoColumnDefs and aoColumns both

btw: i use 1.8.1
