How to custom the width of the toolbar

I follow the example as stated here https://datatables.net/examples/advanced_init/dom_toolbar.html, using "dom": '<"toolbar">frtip'. I want the toolbar and the filter to be inline, something like toolbar col-md-6 and f col-md-6. Not for both have col-md-12. How can I achieve that?
