Filter on specific table

So, back in 2016 this was asked https://datatables.net/forums/discussion/33603/fn-datatable-ext-search-push-apply-on-specific-table and it was said that it would be possible in the next major version. I'd guess that 3 years later a new major version happened. So, how does one do it?

By extension - why I need this.
I have a table that I want to filter the rows. The Columns are already filtered as well. The whole thing has a lot of specific logic that I don't want other tables on the page burdened with (a few hundred other, simpler tables)

The next major version is Datatables 2.x which has not been released yet. As Allan mentioned use settings.nTable.id to check for the desired table. Here is an example:
