Started getting ui.item.context is undefined in RowReordering

I have been using datatables and rowreordering successfully for several years. Recently I've started getting a jquery error TypeError: ui.item.context is undefined at jquery.dataTables.rowReordering.js:218:34 I upgraded to the latest versions of datatables and rowreordering. Same problem. I know it's some sort of incompatibility I've introduced. But I'm not a jquery person, and this error is buried 10 layers deep in the js code. I have no clue what I could have done. Any ideas what is causing this error? Thanks.

That's not a known issue.
