merging cells in exported excel (dataTable buttons plugin)

Description of problem: Hi everyone! I am trying to export datatables to excel with necessary formatting (merged cells, custom background...). The problem is that if table has a lot of columns, then merging (custom written function to merge cells) does not work even though it works perfectly with less columns.
Maybe anyone is more familiar with this library and can give an advice on why larger amount of columns results in worse formatting (maybe 'customize' function has any limitations?)

The problem was in the spreadsheet viewer.
WPS office loses formatting, but MS Excel shows everything perfectly.
