user-select triggered on deselect

My user-select event is triggered even if it is a deselect event. Is this by design? Any way I can determine if the selection was an actual select or deselection event?

Well I dealt with it by just checking the class.

I would of use the select and deselect options in initComplete but it appears those events you cannot cancel?

Maybe one of Allan's examples in this thread will give you some ideas. If they don't help please describe what you are tyring to accomplish - maybe we can provide some ideas.
