Minimum length in search/ filter

I'm quite sure I once saw the ability to require a minimum length on the search box before applying the filter (which would be quite nice when using ajax to feed the data table - ie. you can't search for just "e", but need to "exa" before the search/filter is triggered.

I've been browsing through the documentation and forums, but have been unable to find the option, to make that work. Has anyone stumbled across this feature and can provide a pointer to the page with the documentation?

It seems to be same issue, and probably same solution... I'll look at the suggestion and see if it solves the issue.

Not quite yet, but it's probably just a matter of tinkering a bit more with the code I'm sure.
Once I get it working, I'll see if it can get it to be "postable quality" here :)
