I dont have a way to easily host a code example, but if you could tell me that padding/margins and stuff changed between versions, that might point me in the right direction.
I have been comparing the two in Chrome using the dev tools and for the life of me cant figure out what to change.

Yes, they are now positioned in the middle of the cell (vertically) using this CSS.
You could set the before and after pseudo elements to an absolute top position instead if you want them at the top. Alternatively, you could move the filtering inputs into their own row in the header.
