Search not finding certain words.

For some reason the search feature is not finding certain words.
The body text contains: "After these gods left Maihea for Puʻuloa, "
Yet datatables never will find 'Maihea'.
If I query the database, the LIKE will not find it either. I have to use LIKE%...%

Is there a way to make datables search use LIKE%...%?

Happy to look at a test case showing the issue. I'm not seeing that particular problem on our examples?
