empty divs inside processing indicator

I have some issues with the default loading indicator that appears when processing: true. I end up seeing a whole bunch of empty divs next to the loading text in my layout, and I don't understand how to get rid of them. Is there any precedent for this, or am I the only person in the world who has this issue? I didn't even set anything in language.processing. If I do, it'll just display that text, followed by these empty divs.

They are used for the processing animation.
