SearchPanes Not Functioning, Even on Datatables.net Examples

Allow me to preface with the fact that I have been using Datatables for years and have never encountered something like this before. I used the latest version (as of 10/2026) of CDN and when I implemented search panes I kept receiving an error stating that it was an unknown feature. I know that things change with updates, so I went back through the manual and the examples. When I went to both pages of examples for search panes: https://datatables.net/examples/searchbuilder/integration/searchPanes.html

I received the same error I was getting on my own project that I had implemented the exact same way that the manual and examples had explained. This leads me to believe that something is wrong on Datatables end. If you want me to set up an example, I can but take a look at your own examples first please.

You are completely correct - SearchPanes has not yet been released for DataTables 3. Those links shouldn't actually be in the site's navigation at the moment, and as you'll see SearchPanes is not included in the download builder. There is a note in the release blog post also saying that SearchPanes will follow.
Now all that said, this is exactly what I've been working on recently
. SearchPanes 3 is very nearly ready - it is passing all the unit tests as of today. The packaging files are currently being updated and I'll be merging it to the nightly build shortly. I'll then need to update the documentation and it can go live.
I should note that SearchPanes is going to be joining CardView, Editor and StateRestore as being part of the DataTables Plus extensions for DataTables. This is to keep the software healthy and allow me to maintain it. I do recognise this might disappoint some, but I believe it to be necessary.

That's SearchPanes 3 in the nightly build now. Here is a little example showing it running.

A little update here to say that SearchPanes 3 is now available.
The examples and back to working again and the manual is up to date.
