Strange Markdown output after editing comment

When creating or editing a comment with Markdown code blocks the display is not as expected. It looks like this:

Going back to the forum discussion the code block is displayed correctly. Not a big deal but confusing the first time seeing it

I've changed the syntax highlighter that the site uses and haven't updated the post edit hook to run the new highlighter. Thanks for reminding me, it keeps slipping down the list...!
