Size of a request header field exceeds server limit, using IE9

Today I logged into to my website and got a "400: error reading the headers" from a subset of pages all of which contain several dataTable instances that all use TableTools. I am using the CDN of dataTables (http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery.dataTables/1.9.0/jquery.dataTables.min.js) and a local copy of TableTools 2.0.2.

If I turned off either TT or DT or both, the problem went away.

It seems that IE has limitations on both the number of fields and the length of request that can be passed in a header. Is there a way to minimize the amount of data that dataTables is storing in cookies?

Since I can't run the pages at all in IE, here are the results of DT debugger when run on a problem page in FF (runs fine in FF): http://debug.datatables.net/uwoloy

It does look like 1.9 stores more in cookie (eg: "CaseInsensitive" for cols), which makes it much quicker to reach the browser's limit for cookies and got 400 bad request error. I have to disable cookie and state saving on all of my datatables for now.
