How to print grouping row with TableTools

I have a DataTables table that I implemented grouping similar to what is done in the RowGrouping plugin ie I insert a row spanning the table that contains a caption at the start of each group. I would like to print the table with the captions in place. I've tried the print, pdf and csv functions in TableTools but the captions are always missing.

Is there a way to include them in the output?

Maybe I can clarify my question a little. First I sort the table in question on a date column and then I hide two columns. Then I loop through the rows and each time the date changes I insert a row containing the day of the week.

When I click the TableTools print button the sorting is retained and the two columns remain hidden, but the rows I inserted with the name of the day are stripped out.

How can I retain the inserted rows so they can be part of the printed output?
