Super Slow IE8 data Tables - what should I do?

My web developer has used data tables 1.9 as the backbone of my SIM only comparison site's deals table. The table is set up with pagination and filtering. The problem is that in IE 8 my deals table takes over a minute to load. My websites goal is to make finding a SIM only deal quick and easy so I really need to speed things up.
