When I click on a table-tools button in my report, it exports and saves correctly unless I change the file name before saving. In windows, if I change the file name before saving, the file is saved as "All Files" and doesn't open correctly when I click on it.
The end user would have to add the correct file extension when they change the file name before they save the file. Unfortunately, the end users don't know that they need to do that, and this will create a serious customer service issue for my client.
This is a serious bug. The file should save correctly even if they change the name before saving. This bug creates confusion for the end user, and forces intermediary companies to deal with more customer service issues. Please fix asap. I would fix it myself, but I'm not a flash developer.
for a test case see http://datatables.net/extras/tabletools/
Try exporting to .csv, .pdf, or .xls, and change the name of the file before saving. If you use a mac, it should work. But if you're using windows, it will save as "all files" and won't open in the appropriate program without you choosing it from a list.
