Is there a way (or example on how to setup) a select box to trigger column sorting? Essentially something very similar looking to the ColumnFilterWidgets‎ plugin only instead of filtering, just triggering which column to sort on?

I'm constantly amazed at the things DT can do as I dif through the documentation, but I'm not finding anything like this. I'm thinking I probably just need to build my own select box. If I do that, any direction as to how and what I would hook to in order to trigger the column sort would be an appreciated (I'm very novice at JS/Front End development).
