Removing extraneous right angle quote character from side of table

I have been using Datatables for a part of an intranet page, and have had a persistent issue that I cannot explain of fix: there is, at the mid-point of the table on the right, a right angle quote character appearing to the side of the table. This character is not anywhere in the HTML code of the page, and I cannot seem to remove it. Has anyone here seen a similar problem before?

Not aware of a problem int he library that would cause this. Please link to a test case as noted int eh forum rules so we can offer some help.
