I have done quite a bit with datatables, and have found it to cause the browser (especially IE 7 thru 11, but also Chrome and FireFox) to get pretty unresponsive (to the point of showing a "Stop running script?" dialog) when rendering datasets with many columns and rows. (For example: a dozen columns with 1000+rows).
This is getting weird. I just commented in another thread about IE7 and "Stop running script?" dialog, where the volume of data specified was not significant.
Here again, "a dozen columns with 1000+rows" is a relatively small amount. I am regularly running server-side DT processing with 180,000 rows with no problem.
Sorry I can't be more help, but I don't see how DataTables could be the problem.
