DataTools created PDF loses table borders/shading when physically printed

I have used DataTools to create a PDF of the displayed table, which looks great. However when I then print the PDF onto paper the table borders and header shading disappear making the data hard to read. Is this meant to happen? I would like the lines to actually print out.

Here is a striped down demo page: http://k-web-x1.co.uk/datatables/

This is an example PDF which is created: http://k-web-x1.co.uk/datatables/Status%20report%2022-10-2014%2023-29-53.pdf

I suspect it is something to do with the creation of the PDF using the html/css on the website but I am not sure where to start to fix it. I have tried setting .DTTT_Print #results td {border: 1px solid blue;} but that makes no difference.

I suspect it is more to do with the print options of your browser / PDF viewer. It is likely trying to conserve ink by removing backgrounds as most do.

Try taking a screenshot of the PDF and then printing and to see if this is the case.

Apologies, looking closely it does actually appear to be printing the header and borders, however because the grey is so light it is hardly visible (really almost invisible). Is there any way to make them darker?
