datatables scaffolding slow in rendering

Hi,

I have the $('#tableid').DataTable() statement in the document ready handler, together with other code to initialize more controls, like checkboxes and select list. When I load the page I can see for a fraction of a second the bare table, and only then DataTables takes over; this is annoying .What am I doing wrong to cause this slow rendering? Is there too much code in the document.ready event handler?
